UPDATE 10/9/18: 
Dewey, our oldest resident at this time, is a Labrador/Hound (mix) who is probably 10+ years old and weighs 40 pounds.  He wears a graying blond coat and has big, chocolate brown eyes.  His bloodwork and ultrasound were both very good for a dog his age.  Now that we are treating it, he is getting over some skin issues caused by a flea infestation he has probably had for a very long time.  We are all happy that he is no longer itching and so is he!   
Dewey is a happy old soul; VERY SWEET and GOOD ON A LEASH.  He loves seeing us come in to his room to take him for a walk or out into the yard for some exercise.  He loves to walk on the trail behind our shelter; sometimes he walks like an old man and sometimes like a puppy (literally bouncing up and down with joy). 
He is VERY CLEAN IN HIS ROOMhe pees and poops as soon as he gets outside.  This usually means a dog is house trained or could easily be house trained.
He doesnt seem reactive to other dogs either and he enjoys walking up to the fence to meet them.
Dewey loves hanging out with people and keeps an eye open for any treats we might have for him.  He really loves treats and because he quickly snatches them from our hands, we usually drop the treat in front of him.
Even though Dewey is old and often hobbles along when he walks, he does sometimes run a few feet in true joy when he is out in the yard with us.  And he seems to still see and hear just fine.
He enjoys having his body gently caressed, even though at first he didnt seem to understand it. 
Working to get boiled chicken out of a beehive Kong is one of his favorite pastimes.  His other favorite pastime is snoozing on his bed that is covered in soft blankets.  He is not destructive with soft things.
Dewey is a low energy, easy going, couch potato that loves feeling special.
A calm, adult home with a small yard and maybe another calm dog would suit him very well, and he wouldnt be much trouble at all.  If any of you out there like to adopt good, old dogs, Dewey would love to be your special guy.
